BA-CFA Sunday Message–October 7, 2018

October 7, 2018

Afternoon Dismissal

If you are arriving at school for pick up prior to 2:30, please park in a designated parking space so that visitors and staff members are able to pull out of parking spaces.  Please make sure your engine is off in order to keep air pollutants around our playgrounds as low as possible.  It is essential that we keep the parking lot clear and follow all directional signage and parking signs in order to allow our students and volunteers full access to the school and grounds.

Brevard Academy Supports The Hope Chest

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  As always, we will hold our annual PINK OUT event.  We have set a school-wide goal of 100% participation in raising funds for PINK OUT.  If your child sends in $1 or more, he or she can wear PINK to our school-wide PINK OUT assembly on Tuesday, October 16th.  The more pink the better! For each homeroom/classroom that has 100% participation, (every student sends in $1 or more), those teachers will dye their hair PINK.  If the whole school has 100% participation, Mr. Duncan will dye his hair pink, too!  Homerooms will also decorate their classroom door with PINK and there will be a contest held the day of the assembly for the winning door.  As always, all proceeds will go to the Hope Chest for Women of Western North Carolina, a local organization that donates to families in our community.  We will be collecting donations starting Monday, October 8th through Monday, October 15th.  Please join us in making this event fun and successful!  Last year we raised $1,600 and it would be awesome to match or beat that!! Thanks for your support of Brevard Academy and our community outreach.

October is Bully-Free Month

Ms. Monk, Ms. Best, and Officer Light have been meeting with all classes to discuss bullying and strategies to prevent it.  They emphasized the slogan, “Bully-free, starts with me,” and building positive peer relationships.  As always, we are here to support your child; if he/she is experiencing conflict at school, it is essential to inform an adult to help solve the problem.  In the next few weeks, we will be rolling out an anonymous tip line for parents and students to use in order to report dangerous behaviors.  The tip line is called “Report It.”  Please look for it on our webpage by the end of October.

Fall Break for Students October 17-19

The school is closed for professional development October 17-October 19.  We will have a limited number of uniforms for sale on October 17.
