BA-CFA Sunday Message–February 4, 2018 February 4, 2018 Good afternoon, This is Ted Duncan, Director of Brevard Academy, with highlights from this week. Flu and Sickness Please remember that students must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please see our Parent/Student Handbook for complete information. Let’s knock this bug out of BA-CFA! Staff and Student Basketball Game Join us on Tuesday as the staff takes on the students in basketball. The game will start up at 4:30 pm. Calendar Changes Due to the recent weather, March 19, May 29, and May 30 have been added back to our calendar as full school days. I will continue to keep you updated in the event of further delays or cancellations. Mardi Gras Fundraiser Join us at Jaime’s Creole Brasserie February 13th at 6:00pm for a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration including a gourmet meal, drinks and live music. We are excited to continue what has quickly become one of the largest annual events in Brevard. All donations will benefit Brevard Academy, allowing us to continue offering our students an unrivaled educational experience. Tickets can be purchased for $60.00 at Jaime’s Creole Brasserie, 828-883-3388 or at school. If you are unable to attend but would still like to help Brevard Academy reach its fundraising goal, please consider making a tax deductible contribution to Brevard Academy, 1110 Hendersonville Highway, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768 or by visiting brevard.teamcfa.school. Help us remain the top choice for families K-8 in WNC! Yearbooks It’s officially yearbook season! Our student run yearbook staff has been hard at it creating a one of a kind masterpiece! Yearbooks cost $40. Please attach your cash or check, made payable to Brevard Academy, to the order form and return it to your students homeroom teacher. We will only order a few extras this year so please reserve your child a yearbook today! Yearbooks can be ordered here. Duke Energy Challenge Our school is taking the My Energy Kit Challenge and has a goal to save at least 20,000 kilowatt-hours of energy this school year. That’s a year’s worth of electricity for two homes! We’ll reach this goal when at least 100 families sign up for a FREE Energy Kit and use it to make their homes energy-efficient. The FREE kits from Duke Energy contain items like LED bulbs, a low-flow shower head, and other useful gadgets that can make a big difference toward saving energy at home. If we meet the challenge, our school will automatically win $250. Take the My Energy Kit Challenge and sign up for your FREE kit at MyEnergyKit.org or call 1-855-386-9548. Volunteer Opportunities and Donations Needed: Volunteer Opportunities: Tour Guides We will begin recruitment for the 2018-2019 in January. We offer tours to prospective parents every Thursday on a drop in basis. If you are able to help out with these tours, we would love to have you as you are always our best advertisement. If you are interested, please email me at tduncan@brevardacademy.school with the subject line “Tour Guide.” Donations Needed Cereal Boxes Theater Club could use your help. Do you have boxes you’ve been meaning to get rid of? We are collecting cereal boxes (or other large thin cardboard boxes) to make masks. We also need LARGE cardboard boxes (larger than a toaster, or tall thin boxes) for other props in the upcoming musical. So when you’ve finished a box of cereal, or ordered something off of Amazon, please consider donating your box! Smaller boxes can be sent in with students, and larger boxes can be dropped off at the office. Thank you for your support! Please check your email or our website for the events for the week and volunteer opportunities. Thank you for choosing Brevard Academy and supporting your child’s education. Have a great rest of your evening and….
