Sunday Message from Mr. Duncan–July 30, 2017

July 27, 2017

Good afternoon,

This is Ted Duncan, Director of Brevard Academy, with this week’s announcements and events.  I hope this message finds you well and enjoying your summer.  For those of you new to Brevard Academy, I want to welcome you to the Bulldog Family.  Each week it is my practice to send a phone message and email with the events for the following week.  I also post this message to our website and Facebook page.  The message will regularly come out on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 pm.

You may begin purchasing uniforms through Lands End or ePluno.  There is a link on our website to the ePluno website.  We are partnering with ePluno to offer discounted t-shirts and polos to our families.

At our summer picnic on August 3rd, the PTO will also hold a uniform consignment sale.  This is a great opportunity to get some great deals on uniforms.

Summer Picnic

I am looking forward to seeing you all at our summer picnic on August 3rd.  Please RSVP to the picnic by clicking on the invitation in your email or on our website. This event is open to families and alumni.  Please make sure you bring a blanket or chairs for your family.  We will have off campus parking at Anchor Baptist Church on Hendersonville Highway and Entegra Bank on Asheville Highway.  We will be running shuttles to the school from these lots beginning at 5:45 pm.  Please consider using this offsite parking to help reduce congestion at the school.

Bus Registration

If your child rode the bus last year, you are automatically signed up to ride the bus this year.  You will need to make sure that your paperwork is up to date and replace any placards.  In order to secure your spot, your child must ride the bus on both the morning and afternoon routes within the first 10 of school.

7th/8th Grade Elective Sign Up

If you are rising 7th or 8th grade student, you need to fill out your elective choices as soon as possible.  There will be an opportunity to change electives within the first 2 weeks of school.  You can access the sign-up here.

Changes on Campus

Summer is always a busy time on any school campus.  Although this summer will not be as monumental as last year, we are still very busy.  We are installing a Mountain Bike Pump Track and Nature Trail.  Mountain Roots will be putting in an Outdoor Stump Classroom. North Carolina DOT is scheduled to begin the construction of our turning lane from Hendersonville Highway early in the fall.  These projects will help to improve our campus for the students and community.  I will keep you updated on the progress of these projects.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have several outdoor projects we need help with.

Picnic Table painting–We have several picnic tables that need some attention.  If you are able to do some basic repairs and are handy with a paintbrush, we could use your help.

Sun Shades–We have several sun shades that need to be installed over our playgrounds.  We are excited for the addition of these sunshades to our playgrounds.

Shed Painting–We have an outdoor shed that we need to paint.

Summer volunteering is a great way to get hours in and help us get ready for the next school year.  If you can help with any of these projects, please contact

Desk Assembly–Our new desks have arrived and we need help to put these together. If you are able to assist Mr. Prey in the assembly of these desks, please contact him at

Lunch Pick Up–We are looking for volunteers to pick up our lunches from Quioxte’s Tuesday-Friday at 10:50 to deliver them to the school.  If you are able to assist, please contact Juli Lefler at
