Mr. Duncan’s Sunday Message–May 7, 2017

May 7, 2017

Good afternoon,

This is Ted Duncan, Director of Brevard Academy, with this week’s announcements and events.

Thank you for a great week of teacher appreciation activities.  We all felt your thanks.  If you did not get a chance to see this month’s version of the Bulldog Blast, you can find a link in your email or on our webpage. This month’s Blast detailed questions you can use to help your child with math homework and hopefully remove the struggle.

Please continue to collect and send in BoxTops with your child!  We have collected more than $1,200 this school year and can continue collecting through the summer. We will send another BoxTops collection flyer this week so be sure to check your child’s book bag. Remember, ALL of the money raised with BoxTops goes directly to your child’s classroom field trip fund!

Soccer News
There is no soccer practice this week.  The team will travel to Trinity on Monday, May 15th for a conference playoff game at 5:00 pm.

After-School Openings
Our After-School still has openings available.  The program can help your child finish up homework and offer stimulating enrichment.  This week the program will focus on board games on Tuesday, Legos on Wednesday, and Friday is always movie night.  Rates can be found on our website.

Parent Survey
Our annual parent survey is open and posted to our website.  You can also use the link here. Thank you to all who have responded.  Please be sure to give us your input by May 9 at 7:00 pm.  We appreciate and invite your feedback.

June 12 and 13
June 12 is 8th grade graduation and awards.  June 13 we will have our whole school awards ceremony.  Both days will be 11:30 dismissals.  Bus service will be available in both the morning and afternoon.  Lunch will not be served.

Still Enrolling for 2017-2018
We are still enrolling students.  Although we have a waiting list in several grades, we encourage interested families to apply and get on the waiting list.  Tell a friend what you love about Brevard Academy.

Mountain Roots Day Camp at Brevard Academy
As Mountain Roots grows its summer offerings for PreK-Elementary students, they are growing their  summer middle school programs too. This summer Mountain Roots will be running NINE weeks of their Roots Crew experience for rising 7th-9th graders. Roots Crew is a middle school leadership development and counselor in training program. They invite all interested middle school students to apply–application is attached. Roots Crew members will have the opportunity to learn about being a Mountain Roots counselor; to help younger campers with various activities; and enjoy the benefits of being a part of our fun and active Day Camp this summer. Interested families may apply for any combination of 1-9 weeks this summer.

More information on Mountain Roots Day Camp is available here.

Check your email and our webpage for volunteer opportunities and the events for the week.

Thank you for supporting your child’s education.

Have a great rest of your Sunday and…Go Bulldogs!
