June 4, 2017

Good afternoon,

This is Ted Duncan, Director of Brevard Academy, with this week’s announcements and events.

End of Grade Testing Information

End of Grade Testing will take place on June 6th and 7th.

Students are not permitted to have electronic devices during testing, including smartwatches and wearable activity trackers such as FitBits.  Please leave these items at home.

On Time to Test Rules (June 6th and 7th)–Win a ride in a limo

In an effort to help put a positive spin on testing, we are instituting the “On Time to Test” contest to help get all students in grade 3-8 to school on time and with a protein packed breakfast in their bellies.

Every 3rd-8th grade student who is on time to school will earn a ticket.
Every 3rd-8th grade student who comes to school with a note from a parent stating they had a protein-packed breakfast will earn a ticket.
At the end of testing on June 7th, we will draw one student from each tested homeroom in grades 3-5 and one winner from each grade level (6-8).
Winning students will win a limousine ride to Jets Pizza for lunch and tour of Brevard on June 8th compliments of Entegra Bank.

Bus Survey for 2017-2018

We are collecting interest in bus use for the 2017-2018 school year.  If you are already signed up for a bus, you do not need to re-register.  However, we need you to complete the survey in order to hold your spot.  If you are interested in bus service, please fill out the attached survey.  The survey can be found on our website.  Remember, bus transportation is the safest way to get to and from school.

After School

We still have openings available on drop in or weekly basis.  We have a great Lego collection, fun board games, and terrific art projects.  If you are interested in learning more, please contact Philippa Hackett at

Please continue to collect and send in BoxTops with your child!  We have collected more than $1,200 this school year and can continue collecting through the summer. We will send another BoxTops collection flyer this week so be sure to check your child’s book bag. Remember, ALL of the money raised with BoxTops goes directly to your child’s classroom field trip fund!

Still Enrolling for 2017-2018
We are still enrolling students.  Although we have a waiting list in several grades, we encourage interested families to apply and get on the waiting list.  Tell a friend what you love about Brevard Academy.
