BA-CFA Sunday Message–November 26, 2017

November 26, 2017

Good afternoon,

This is Ted Duncan, Director of Brevard Academy.  I hope you had a great Thanksgiving Break.  We return to school tomorrow kicking off our winter spirit week.  Below are the highlights happening at the school this week.

Spirit Week

This week we are celebrating Spirit Week.  We will begin with America Day on Monday. Students can dress in red, white and blue to show off their American pride. Tuesday will be Pajama Day, students can come dressed in their pajamas to show spirit.  Slippers are not allowed.  The rest of the Spirit Days are listed in the events below. All BA-CFA students are encouraged to participate in Spirit Week dress out days. If a student chooses not to participate, they are required to wear their school uniform.

Beta Club Gives Back

We are also getting into the spirit of the giving this season; Beta Club is collecting toys to donate to the Sharing House. Free admission to our basketball games will be offered this week for anyone who brings a new unwrapped toy.  The Sharing House is a community resource available to all county residents.

After School Reminder

A friendly reminder to parents for After School pick up to please come in the highway 64 entrance and park in the spaces outside the front of the school (not the gravel parking lot).  Also please ensure your child has a warm jacket. Outside temperatures drop quickly in the afternoon.

Being Prepared for Outdoor Education

Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and some 8th grade students have Outdoor Education every week this quarter. As it gets colder, please be sure that your child is prepared to be outside for 45 minutes with a jacket, hat, and gloves as appropriate.

Compost Containers Needed!

The Brevard Academy Green Team is working on starting a school-wide compost program. We need plastic containers with a sealing lid for each classroom to collect compost. CLEAN gallon ice cream tubs like the ones pictured work great for this. Any other large bowl or small bucket with a sealing lid will also work great! Please put all containers in the collection bin in the front office from now until November 30.

Girls in the Run Collection

Girls on the Run is doing a community impact project. They are collecting slightly used or new pet supplies for the Rosman Animal Shelter. There will be boxes in the hallways on Monday and fliers on the walls throughout the school. Girls on the Run will collect the boxes on the Thursday after Thanksgiving Break (November 30th). If you wish, you may contribute money by giving it to your homeroom teacher.  Girls on the Run will use the money to purchase additional supplies.
