It was another wonderful day at Brevard Academy. Students are learning the routines and procedures of each classroom while setting up for a successful year. If you have not gotten a chance, check out the front page of the Transylvania Times. It will make you smile.
At dismissal today, we anticipate fewer cars in our pick up line as Flag Football begins, and more students are riding buses. Busing is shown to be the safest way for a child to get home. If you are interested in registering your child for buses, please check our website.
If you are picking up your child from the school today, please follow the tips below to help us keep all students safe and the traffic flowing.
Afternoon Dismissal Reminders:
If you arrive prior to 2:00 for pick up, you will need to park in one of the designated parking spots. Please be aware this may cause you to be stuck in our car line until 3:30.
If we begin to back up onto Hendersonville Highway (Highway 64), traffic will be instructed to proceed down Glade Creek Road and circle back to the school until you are able to enter the parking lot.
Practice distracted free driving by putting cellphones away, keeping close to the car in front of you, and following all directions from staff.
The side lot is for handicap parking and students who missed their car in the dismissal lanes. These spaces are not for early arrivals.
Please stay in your car, and we will bring your child to you.
Have your placard with both your child’s first and last name and grade level clearly written.
We will have staff members distributing traffic flow maps, helpful reminders, and extra pickup placards.
Thank you for all your support and energy the first two days. It has been an amazing start to the school year.

August 17, 2018
This is Brevard Academy school director Ted Duncan. I am coming to you early this week because I cannot contain my excitement. We have had three outstanding days at Brevard Academy. Our staff is laser focused on building a school culture around Positive Attitudes and Effort, Accountability, Manners, and Responsibility. Staff members are laying the groundwork for a rigorous academic year where students can fulfill their full potential. Your child will be challenged to raise his/her own expectations. You will learn more about our efforts to redefine what it means to be a Bulldog in the coming weeks.
This year, I have created an instructional support team made up of myself, our TeamCFA instructional Coach (Lisa Malaquin-Prey), our Director of Compliance and EC (Lori Luhrs), our Dean of Students (Kimberly Best), our Beginning Teacher Support Coordinator (Crystal Holland), and our Curriculum Coordinator (Camy Stirling). We have been in all classrooms every day, observing, coaching, and guiding our teaching staff to take advantage of every instructional minute of every day.
It is my personal pledge to you that your child’s achievement will be at the center of all of our actions and decisions. Over the weekend, please review the Family Handbook, our website, and the important information that came home. Your child’s growth and safety will guide all of our actions. We need your help in this partnership.
Over the next two weeks, your child’s teacher will be reaching out to you to tell you about the potential that we see in your child. Take this opportunity to see how you can best support your child’s learning.
It is going to be a great year at Brevard Academy. If your child has had a positive experience, we want to know. Post a picture of your child on Facebook with the hashtag #ILoveBACFA.
Please contact me if I can assist you in any way.
Your children. Our mission.
